Job Description:
Reporting to our Vice President of Operations, as Director of Routesetting & Youth Programming you will be an integral part of the leadership team and will be responsible for all Route Setting and USA Climbing Youth Team Programming Operations for Gravity Vault’s New York based locations.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Overall ownership of all Route Setting operations
  • Ensuring the safe operations of all Route Setting activities
  • Setting Routes and Problems
  • Set up and management of Setting Safety Zones for team
  • Fore running Routes/Problems
  • Gathering feedback from the member community
  • Leadership, Development and Team Building of Route Setters
  • Ownership of hold selections and supplier relationships
  • Coordination and execution of all Climbing floor and Route Setting related maintenance
  • Chief local competitions
  • Leadership of Youth Programming specific to USA Climbing Youth Team program
  • Development of Youth Climbers
  • Leadership, Development and Team Building of Team Coaches


  • Strong desire to progress a career position as a Head Route Setter, Coach and integral member of the company leadership team.
  • Ability to fore run 5.13+ and V8+ preferred
  • At least 5 years of prior Route Setting experience
  • Competition Setting experience required
  • USAC Level 2 or 3 certification a strong advantage
  • At least 3 years of prior Youth Team Coaching experience
  • Ability to demonstrate Leadership by example
  • Ability to demonstrate creative thinking and problem solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft applications such as word and excel
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
