THE COACHES

Head Coach of "The Gravity Vault" Climbing Teams: Ferdie Araga
The Gravity Vault is proud to have Ferdie leading our teams. As an accomplished climber and coach he brings a great dynamic to our teams in both Upper Saddle River and Chatham. Ferdie started climbing in 1994 and was hooked ever since. His “claim to fame” in climbing: Bringing his son bouldering for the first time at the Gunks.

Russell Santos
The Gravity Vault is proud to have Russell Santos coaching our team in Upper Saddle River. Russell has been a member of The Gravity Vault's climbing community since our opening and we are excited to have him as a part of our coaching team.

Assistant Team Coaches-Chatham
Marcie Puskarik and Anthony Encinas 
Marcie and Anthony have a shared passion for climbing. Marcie in an environmental scientist and Tony is a high school English teacher. Their love for the sport has led them to many wonderful experiences.
Intermediate Team Coaches
Upper Saddle River Coach: Steve Garcia 
Steve has served as The Gravity Vault Upper Saddle River's Intermediate Team Coach since our opening. He is a physical education teacher, an avid climber and a phenomenal part of our coaching staff.
Chatham Coach: Zachary Mongiovi
Chatham Coach: Jacob Seigler
Jacob Seigler is the newest addition to the Gravity Vault Chatham coaching staff. First learning to climb at The Gravity Vault, he continues to pursue his passion for climbing and enjoys motivating new climbers to reach their fullest potential.
The Gravity Vault has 3 Climbing Teams based on the climbers ability.
Intermediate Climbing Team
Ages 7 to 16
Climbers Ability: 5.8 to 5.10; V0 to V2
Maximum Number of Climbers on Team: 20
Practice Schedule: Saturdays 9-11 AM
Price $109.00 per Month
$45 add-on with a current membership
The intermediate team will be comprised of individuals that have limited climbing experience and are interested in taking climbing to the next level. They need to have a basic knowledge of top roping and bouldering and have the ability to effectively use their feet to position their body while climbing. This team will practice once a week for 2 hours, a total of 8 instructional hours per month. Climber needs own equipment.
Advanced Climbing Team
Ages 8 to 18
Climbers Ability 5.10 to 5.11; V1 to V4
Maximum Number of Climbers on Team: 20
The advanced team is comprised of individuals who have a well-rounded climbing technique. They will undergo an intensive training program that includes stretching, power training and climbing. This group will also learn how to lead climb and lead belay. There are approximately eight practices per month held on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Climber needs own equipment.
Price $155.00 per Month (as of 10/1/09)

Competitive Climbing Team
Ages 8 to 18
Climbers Ability 5.11 to 5.13; V3 to V10+
Maximum Number of Climbers on Team: 20
The competitive team is comprised of the strongest climbers. These climbers will follow a rigorous training program that will make them the best climbers in the nation. Not all members need to compete in the USA Climbing Program in order to qualify for the team; they may choose to only boulder. They will be given individual customized training programs based on their strengths and weaknesses. There are approximately eight practices per month held on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Climber needs own equipment.
Price $175.00 per Month (as of 10/1/09)
