Scout Programs

The Gravity Vault offers a variety of scout programs for boy & girl scouts of all ages.  We offer programs that range from introduction to rock climbing events to merit badge programs.  We pride ourselves on ensuring there is a educational foundation to all our programs as well as a lot of rock climbing.  If there is not a program that meets your needs, please call us and we will help create a special event for you and your troop.

BOY SCOUTS: Climbing Merit Badge
GIRL SCOUTS: Adventure Sports Badge, High Adventure Badge
CUB, DAISY & BROWNIE TROOPS: Introduction to Rock Climbing
LEADER TRAINING: Belay Certification Class
VENTURING/RANGER HANDBOOK ELECTIVE: Mountaineering (ages 14-20)

Boy Scouts: Climbing Merit Badge (ages 12+)

Three 2-hour classes or Two 3-hour classes (6 hours of instruction) at $69 per scout

  • Earn the Boy Scout Climbing Merit Badge
  • All points of the official B.S.A Handbook are covered in a fun, safe environment
  • Learning Worksheets and Merit Badge Application
  • Minimum 5 Participants

Girl Scouts: Adventure Sports Badge

Juniors (ages 8-11)
Two 2-hour classes at $49 per scout

  • Girl Scouts learn climbing commands, strength and conditioning exercises, safety rules, top roping, bouldering, traversing, climbing history, equipment basics, knots, complete an obstacle course, and compile a scrapbook
  • Satisfies skills #1, #2, #7, #8, #9 and #10 of the Adventure Sports Badge
  • Includes the Adventure Sports Badge
  • Minimum 5 participants

Girl Scouts: High Adventure Badge 

Senior and Cadets (ages 11-17)
Two 2-hour classes at $49 per scout

  • Girl Scouts learn climbing commands, strength and conditioning exercises, safety rules, top roping, bouldering, traversing, climbing history, equipment basics, knots, and rappelling
  • Satisfies skills #2, #5 and #6 of the High Adventure Badge.
  • In order to complete the High Adventure Badge scouts must complete additional Skill Builders, Service Projects and/or Career Exploration through their own scout organization.
  • Minimum 5 participants

Cub Scouts, Daisy & Brownie Troops: Introduction to Rock Climbing

  • 90 minute session at $24 per scout
  • Introduction to rock climbing program
  • Scouts will learn climbing commands, safety rules, top roping, and traversing in a fun, safe environment
  • Good for scouts of all climbing levels and experience
  • Minimum 5 participants

Venturing/Ranger Handbook Elective: Mountaineering (Ages 14-20)

Two 2-hour classes at $49 per person

  • All points of the official Venturing Handbook are covered in a fun, safe environment
  • All necessary equipment is included

Leader Training: Belay Certification Class

2 hour class at $35 per person

  • General overview of belaying, knot tying, top roping, safety rules, and verbal commands.
  • All necessary equipment included
  • Minimum of 3 for a privately scheduled class or you can join one of our three weekly Belay Certification Classes

Benefits of being Belay Certified for your troop:

  • After paying for your initial instruction or if you are familiar with belaying, bring your troop back to The Gravity Vault and it will only be the price of a day pass.
  • Your scouts will receive more climbing time! As a self-instructed group, you can stay as long as the facility is open and do not need to wait for staff.
  • Being a self-sufficient group opens up more scheduling possibilities.
  • For large groups, reservations are appreciated.

Additional Information

  • Harnesses are provided for all participants. Children are required to wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. Climbing shoes can be rented from our facility for $4 per pair (reservations for shoes are appreciated).
  • Each participant must have a waiver completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian, according to our waiver guidelines.
  • Participants should bring something to drink (water bottle, powerade, etc.) or some pocket money to purchase beverages at The Gravity Vault.
