Lead Climbing Class

Classes are $59.00 and reservations are required.

If you have never led before, or it’s been awhile since you have, then this class is for you! In our lead climbing class you will learn all the fundamentals of leading. 

You will learn lead belaying techniques including:

Feeding rope while the climber is climbing

Feeding rope when clipping

Rope management

Dynamic belay techniques with a Gri Gri

Stick clipping

In depth understanding into the Petzl Gri Gri belay device

The lead climbing portion of the class will cover things such as risk management, proper negotiation of movement around the rope while climbing to ensure safety, understanding “the clip”, and anchors.

Requirements to take Lead Climbing Class:  Must be currently climbing at a 5.9 fitness level and top rope certified.

Lead Test

You can take the Lead Test if you have prior experience with leading and are a confident 5.9+ climber. There is a fee for the test of $5 which is donated to the Access Fund.
