THE GRAVITY VAULT OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Jamie Harpster - Lead Outdoor Instructor
Jamie is the founder of The Gravity Vault's Outdoor Education Program and has been a member of The Gravity Vault Staff since 2006. His instructional experience ranges from our After School Rocks II children's program to being an assistant climbing instructor for SUNY Purchase College. As a native of the northern New Jersey area, Jamie has spent most of his time outdoors exploring the local hiking and climbing scene. His enthusiasm for the outdoors has led him many places; some favorites include: the Presidential Range of NH, the Shawangunks, Catskills, and Adirondacks of NY. As a 2007 graduate of NOLS, he has had the chance to ski the Absorkas, canyoneer through southern Utah, and climb at Sinks and Split Rock of WY. His off hours are spent volunteering for New Jersey Search and Rescue where he is a member of their Mountain Rescue Unit which specializes in backcountry evacuations as well as high and low angle rescues.

Top Rope Instruction
This is a great course for new climbers or those who have been climbing in the gym and want to explore outdoor climbing. We will provide an exciting guided experience while teaching you some of the advanced topics of real rock climbing. Some topics will include belaying, rappelling, knots, and techniques unique to outdoor climbing. Appropriate for all ages & experience levels.

Just what it says! Don’t have 2 days to spend learning trad, spend 1 day learning the basics of placing and cleaning protection while on top rope.
Learn to Lead (2 Days)
Looking to delve into the sport of trad climbing? Then this is your course. Two days will be spent learning how to place, clean, and build anchors using artificial protection. By the end of the second day you’ll be placing gear with confidence.
