The Gravity Vault offers basic training classes that are available on a weekly basis. These supervised sessions will cover top roping, traversing, bouldering, knots, climbing commands, safety procedures, and proper technique. Our staff has put together a curriculum that will foster physical fitness and critical thinking in a fun, encouraging environment.
AGES 5-6: Little Rockers
AGES 7-13: After School Rocks; After School Rocks II; Cliff Hangers
AGES 9-13: Rock Stars
AGES 10-13: Climb On

Little Rockers
AGES: 5-6
WHEN: Sundays 10:00-11:00 am (1 hour)
DATES: November 2 - December 7, 2008
COST: $199 for a 6 week session
Are your kids climbing the walls? This is a great place for younger kids to develop self awareness and problem solving skills, as well as basic climbing techniques.
After School Rocks
AGES: 7-13
WHEN: Mondays 4:00-5:30 pm (1 hour 30 minutes)
DATES: November 3 - December 8, 2008
COST: $199 for a 6 week session
If you’ve climbed at a fair, been to a climbing birthday party or have no experience at all; this class is just for you!
After School Rocks II
AGES: 7-13
WHEN: Wednesdays 4:00-5:30 pm (1 hour 30 minutes)
DATES: November 5 - December 10, 2008
COST: $199 for a 6 week session

Cliff Hangers

Found that you love to climb and can't get enough? Cliff Hangers uses games, activities and training to introduce participants to safe climbing practices.
Rock Stars
AGES: 9-13
WHEN: Mondays 6:00-7:30 pm (1 hour 30 minutes)

This is a great opportunity to take climbing to the next level! This class is for those who have some rock climbing experience.
Climb On
AGES: 10-13
WHEN: Wednesdays 6:00 - 7:30pm (1.5 hours)

Do you want to get your kids active? Tired of sitting in front of the TV or playing video games? Bring them to Climb On and get them moving and having fun!
Belay Certification Classes
After a general overview of the sport of climbing, students are taught how to put on a climbing harness, how to tie a figure-eight knot and a double fisherman backup knot and how to belay (the process of managing the ropes while your partner climbs).

Additional Information
Groups of three or more can schedule a private belay certification class at their convenience; please call for pricing and availability.
The group will then start to climb together, actually running the ropes for each other, and encouraging one another. Belay Certification is an excellent way to get introduced to the growing sport of indoor climbing. All rental equipment is included in the price.
Course:
Lead Climbing and Belay Certification (call for schedule) $59.00
Requirements to take Lead Climbing and Belay Certification Course: If you are currently climbing at a 5.9 fitness level and are top rope certified, you can take our lead climbing/belay class or a lead test if you have prior experience. There is a fee for the test of $5 which is donated to the Access Fund. If you have never led before, you can take our lead climbing class where you will learn all the fundamentals. You will learn lead belaying techniques including feeding rope while the climber is climbing, feeding rope when clipping, rope management, dynamic belay techniques with a Gri Gri, stick clipping, and an in depth understanding into the Petzl Gri Gri belay device. The lead climbing portion of the lead class will cover things such as risk management, proper negotiation of movement around the rope while climbing to ensure safety, understanding “the clip”, and anchors.
Additional Information
Harnesses are provided for all participants. Children are required to wear sneakers and comfortable clothing. Participants can bring a snack and/or water bottle or some pocket money to purchase snacks/beverages at The Gravity Vault.
Each participant under the age of 18 must have a waiver completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian, according to our waiver guidelines.
