James has been a member of The Gravity Vault Staff since 2006 with instructional experience ranging from teaching children's programs to being an assistant climbing instructor for SUNY Purchase College. As a native of the northern New Jersey area, James has spent most of his time outdoors exploring the local hiking and climbing scene. His enthusiasm for the outdoors has led him many places; some favorites include: the Presidential Range of NH, the Shawangunks, Catskills, and Adirondacks of NY. As a 2007 graduate of NOLS, he has had the chance to ski the Absorkas, canyoneer through southern Utah, and climb at Sinks and Split Rock of WY. His off hours are spent volunteering for New Jersey Search and Rescue where he is a member of their Mountain Rescue Unit which specializes in backcountry evacuations as well as high and low angle rescues.

This is a great course for new climbers or those who have been climbing in the gym and want to explore outdoor climbing. We will provide an exciting guided experience while teaching you some of the advanced topics of real rock climbing. Some topics will include belaying, knots, and movement. Appropriate for ages 5 and up & all experience levels.

Top Rope Instruction
This is a great course for new climbers or those who have been climbing in the gym and want to explore outdoor climbing. We will provide an exciting guided experience while teaching you some of the advanced topics of real rock climbing. Some topics will include belaying, rappelling, knots, and techniques unique to outdoor climbing. Appropriate for all ages & experience levels. **Climbers must be at least 5 years of age or older**

Just what it says! Don’t have 2 days to spend learning trad, spend 1 day learning the basics of placing and cleaning protection while on top rope.
Learn to Lead (2 Days)
Looking to delve into the sport of trad climbing? Then this is your course. Two days will be spent learning how to place, clean, and build anchors using artificial protection. By the end of the second day you’ll be placing gear with confidence.

BUILDING BLOCKS OF TOP ROPE ANCHORS
**2 Day Intensive Program, Must have prior top rope experience and belay certification**
Have you climbed under a “roof” your whole life and have no idea how to make the transition to climbing outdoors on your own? Or maybe your anchor building skills are a little rusty; well then our building blocks course is for you. Two days will be spent learning and practicing the art of building top rope anchors with everything from boulders to bolts and trees to tri-cams.
**Climbers must be at least 14 years of age or older.**
